THURSDAY Incapacitate (verb)

The verb incapacitate, which combines the root meaning of “able to” with the negating prefix “in,” means, of course, to render unable.  A tennis player may be incapacitated by a torn knee ligament.  A computer system can be incapacitated by a computer virus. A self-defense class will teach you how to incapacitate an assailant.
