RootWords

Research

Memorizing vocabulary words is tedious and slow. In schools students "study" 10 words a week for 36 weeks = about 400 words a year. There are over 470,000 words in current English dictionaries. This method will take a long time, and won't be very effective. But, what if learning 10 Root morphemes opened the door to thousands of words? The Latin root "gen" is the source of over 600 words in English, the root "graph" produces over 700 words, and 95% of all Medical terms are Latin or Greek based. If one learns a dozen prefixes, roots and suffixes their vocabulary will grow exponentially. Learners will be able to decipher larger, more nuanced words. Reading comprehension will become stronger more quickly.
Latyn Lyngo is a tumbler-based game to learn those morphemes.
